Learn to Skate Pathway

The Learn to Skate Pathway builds strong, lasting fundamentals through structured training, technical focus, and age-appropriate progression.

National-level coaches guide young skaters through each stage, ensuring skills are mastered with quality and confidence.

Pre-CanSkate (ages 3–5)

Pre-CanSkate introduces young skaters to the ice in a safe, fun, and structured environment. Lessons focus on balance, coordination, basic movement patterns, and early skill development.

The emphasis is on comfort on the ice, proper body alignment, and fundamental skating skills that set children up for long-term success.

Intro/Advanced CanSkate → StarSkate

The Intro/Advanced CanSkate phase prepares skaters for the StarSkate program by deepening their technical ability and introducing elements such as:

  • Basic jumps and spins
  • Edges and turns
  • Strong posture and alignment
  • Increased ice awareness and control

This is the bridge between recreational learning and more specialized figure skating training.

When skaters demonstrate readiness, they progress into StarSkate, where they begin more formal figure skating development.
